Banbury Animal Rescue Service Needs Your Help

By Lennox Bradly

The UK based animal rescue service BARKS needs your help

A UK animal rescue service is running out of volunteers and needs foster families to keep operating at a high level

Banbury Animal Rescue and Kindness Service is an animal charity operating in the UK that offers temporary homes for abandoned animals. While they help a lot of animals get off the street and into loving homes, a shortage of volunteers and foster families is putting the charity under undue strain. “We’re the only charity that takes in unwanted animals around here and finds them a new home. We are getting a lot of requests to take animals in but we have not got enough people coming forward to volunteer to take care of them,” stated Committee member Joyce Turner.

Jazz Funeral Honors Lost New Orleans Pets

New Orleans was recently home to a jazzy procession and funeral service to remember the fallen pets of Katrina

All of us by now have heard stories about beloved pets that were left behind during the horrific hurricane Katrina crisis. Well recently, those fallen pets were given a proper send off.

New Orleans was recently home to a Jazz Funeral for those pets that were lost in the horrific effects of Hurricane Katrina. More than 100 former pet owners took part in the 10 block march that started at Esplanade Street median and ending at St. Anna Episcopal Church. Some owners brought pets others did not, and some pet owners not even affected by the horrific hurricane even brought their pets along as a sign of respect and support.

Pet Dog Health - Choosing The Right Size Dog For You

Choosing The Right Size Dog For You
If you are thinking about getting a dog for a family pet then you may want to do some research before you make that decision. Caring for dogs can be both a big responsibility and a challenge, but the end results can be very rewarding.

If you are thinking about getting a dog for a family pet then you may want to do some research before you make that decision. Caring for dogs can be both a big responsibility and a challenge, but the end results can be very rewarding.

Below I list several factors that you should consider when they are about to choose a dog. One factor that shouldn’t be taken lightly is the physical attributes of the dog such as their weight and size.

Depending on your personality you may prefer a small dog or a larger dog breed. For example, smaller dogs have less weight to carry around so they will tend to run faster and be more active then larger, heavier dogs. This can be a good thing if you have small children because they will be able to play with their dog more and will also be able to teach them more tricks as well.

Also, smaller dogs will require less food and space then a larger dog so they will also be more economical as well. They will also require fewer resources when it comes time for a bath compared to that of a larger dog which can save money on the water bill and will also save you some money on grooming.

However, the disadvantages of a smaller dog is that the dog can sometimes be too active and cause damages to your house such as breaking things and gnawing up your furniture. On the contrary, a larger breed of dog can make a better protector of your property. They will be more likely to scare away potential criminals.

If you have no children and don’t prefer a high energy dog, then a large dog may be a smart choice for you. Bigger dogs are usually a lot less active than their smaller counterparts so you won’t have to be worry about getting up and playing with them constantly.

Everyone has different reasons for getting dogs, and everyone may have different preferences to what dog types they prefer. A busy individual may not like an active and affectionate dog, while on the other hand, an older individual may love a dog that licks their face and are constantly trying to convince them to play, it’s all about preferences.

If an individual is looking for a friendly house pet then they may prefer a dog that gets along with other pets in the house so all of the animals live in harmony. However, if you are looking for a dog that will protect your property aggressively then you may be looking for the opposite characteristics. Make sure that you have your preferences in mind before you seek to choose your new dog.

Dog Eye Care
Always make sure that your dog’s eyes are clean and bright. Build ups may occur from time to time. But this should not cause any panic. They are natural and common. You just need to wipe them away once you see that is in abundance already.

Always make sure that your dog’s eyes are clean and bright. Build ups may occur from time to time. But this should not cause any panic. They are natural and common. You just need to wipe them away once you see that is in abundance already.

In case you notice any abnormal discharge, consult your vet immediately. It is better to have them checked at the first sign. You never know what that might lead to.

Does Your Dog Have Allergies
Just like their owners, dogs can suffer from allergies too. Some of these allergies can be related to the foods that they eat where some of the cheaper brands of dog food have coloring and preservatives that can cause allergic reactions. If this is the case then it is a process of eliminating those foods that have the ingredients that cause the reactions.

This is not always as easy as it might seem as it can take quite some time to find which particular ingredient is the culprit.

Dog Obedience Training Secrets

By buying the better premium quality dog foods you are less likely to have these problems or alternatively if you only feed your dog fresh meat and some vegetables rather than processed foods that should help.

Most of the cheap dog foods use grain products as a filler and these are often the cause of the dog’s problems.

These food allergies can result in your dog scratching their skin, which can also cause more problems with infections.

Just as we would be very uncomfortable with an allergy that makes us constantly want to itch our skin, allergies can make a dogs life miserable.

Aside from the allergies affecting skin sensitivities your dog could also develop coughing, discharge from the nose and eyes, hair loss and breathing problems.

There are many more symptoms that can arise and these are just a few.

If you notice any changes in your dog when they have a change in diet then it will pay to take a note of the ingredients of that product to see what is in it that could be making your dog feel unwell.

Discover The Truth About Commercial Dog Food

Dogs can also get allergies from dust mites just as humans would and it is always necessary to ensure that your dog lives in a clean environment even if they are an outdoor pet by regularly cleaning their cage or kennel.

Fleas are another concern for dogs and they can lead to excessive licking, particularly around the tail, which can ultimately lead to hair loss and sores. It is very easy for your vet to see if your dog has fleas if you are unable to do so yourself and there are simple solutions to eliminate fleas.

Dogs can also get varying skin diseases and some breeds are more susceptible than others.
There are many good lotions and antibiotic pills that can be administered by your vet to control this and the sooner you get these problems seen to the better as they can lead to more intensive skin problems if left unattended.
