Dog Health Care - How to Give Your Dog A Pill The Quick And Easy Way
Giving your dog a pill can be a big hassle for a lot of dog owners. Most people either try and hide the pill in the dog’s food or make a big meatball and insert the pill into it. These methods sometimes work. When they don’t the owner usually has to resort to shoving the pill down the dog’s throat.
Not much fun for the dog or the owner. In this article you’ll learn a quick and easy method for giving your dog a pill.
The first step is simply taking a couple of hot dogs and slicing them into small, bite sized chunks and putting them into a plastic bag.
Take some of your dog’s pills and put them into the bag with the hot dogs. Place the bag with the hot dogs and the pills in the refrigerator for about 24 hours.
Take the pills and the bag out of the fridge and call your dog over. Start feeding some of the small bits of hot dog.
As your dog is taking them from you take one of the pills and have it ready to give to your dog. As your feeding the hot dogs one after the other, give a pill just like you are feeding a hot dog. Quickly follow up after the pill with another hot dog.
This method works because the pill takes on the scent of the hot dog. It works best if you feed your dog three or four of the hot dogs, then the pill followed up by a few more hot dogs.
It’s best of you use hot dogs that have a strong scent to them. I find beef work best. Make sure that the bag with the pills is clearly labeled.
