Boston reports cases of West Nile

For the first time this year, mosquitoes have tested positive for West Nile in Boston. According to health officials, the type of mosquitoes that were found in West Roxbury to be carrying the virus prefer to bite birds, but will also bite humans now and again.

Last year in the state of Massachusetts, 6 people contracted the West Nile virus, however this year no human cases have been reported.

Wyoming has reported its third human case of West Nile for the year

Goshen County is home to a new human case of West Nile

The West Nile virus has made an appearance in Goshen County as a resident has contracted the virus. The man is Wyoming’s third case of West Nile for the year of 2006, and started developing symptims of the virus at the beginning of August.

“With the number of human cases growing in the states surrounding Wyoming, it’s important that our state’s residents take steps to protect themselves from mosquito bites,” stated Dr. Tracy Murphy, state epidemiologist.
